Ashley Northington is an award-winning marketing communications professional and entrepreneur.
She is the founder of the boutique public relations, marketing and brand development firm, DENOR Brands & Public Relations. She is also founder of #LiveYourBrand and serves as host of The LiveYourBrand Show.
Prior to launching her communications firm, she has held prominent roles as an arts and entertainment reporter, chief education reporter, press secretary, public information officer, and research analyst for major corporations and public service organizations including The Tennessean, The (Shreveport) Times, USA Today, Associated Press, Louisiana Department of Education and the Bureau of Governmental Research.
Today the Nashville native is committed to helping small businesses like hers thrive.
Though established organizations, such as Zycron, Lend Lease and Friendship Schools Network, rely on her expertise, her commitment to small business is evident in several of the clients she chooses. A sought-after trainer and speaker, she has facilitated workshops on social media marketing, brand strategy and marketing strategy for the Nashville Business Incubation Center, Pathway Women’s Business Center and the Metro Nashville Office of Women and Minority Business Assistance, among several others.
Northington is also a contributor to #BossLiving: A Practical Guide for Starting Your Sustainable Small Business. The book, published in May 2015 by Denwit Publishing, is an anthology written by entrepreneurs for aspiring ones; Northington’s chapter focused on the importance of developing a strong brand narrative. She will release a new book that discusses the convergence of business, personal branding and social media, Counting Dollars and Likes: Growing Your Brand and Business in the Digital Age.
Northington launched #LiveYourBrand, a personal and business brand development e-course for emerging business owners, in 2014. Already she has helped hundreds of entrepreneurs increase their visibility and sales through the course, podcast, goal-setting and visioning workshop, and other products.
Northington is active in the business and public education community. She serves on the Sunago Supply Advisory Board as well as the Nashville Business Incubation Center’s marketing committee. A Young Leaders Council alumna, Northington is secretary for the Purpose Preparatory Academy Board of Directors. She also mentors high school students making the transition to college through the tnAchieves!/Tennessee Promise program.
Northington is a proud graduate of Tennessee State University where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a minor in women’s studies. She also earned a Master of Public Administration with concentrations in public policy and higher education from Louisiana State University.
